In conjunction with Yom haZikaron and Yom haAtzmaut, the Israel Committee at Temple Beth El in Charlotte, NC organizes an Israel Shabbat.
During this shabbat, we focus our attention on our eternal homeland. One of our goals is to educate members of our congregation on issues currently debated in Israel. At the oneg following services, we had several tables set up with information on Israel.
Because the work of Women of the Wall is near and dear to our hearts, one of our main social justice displays was Women of the Wall.
With about a hundred congregants attending the oneg, we were able to enlighten many about the important work being done in Israel by Women of the Wall to promote religious pluralism.
